Overview

The Institute for Data Innovation in Science (IDIS) at Seoul National University encompasses five research centers with overarching objectives to advance scientific discovery through data-driven methodologies. The centers focus on developing innovative data analysis techniques, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration, and applying statistical and data science methods across various scientific domains. By integrating big data analysis, theoretical models, and practical applications, IDIS aims to address complex scientific challenges, propel scientific progress, and contribute to societal betterment.

Three key centers, namely the Data Discovery Center, Biodata Science Center and Center for Data-driven Research for Materials and Universe, form the institute’s Focused Research Group. These These centers are conducting cutting-edge research funded by the LAMP project, with a focus on developing innovative data analysis methodologies, integrating big data and theoretical models, and fostering interdisciplinary collaboration.

The Statistics Research Center is a global leader in developing innovative statistical methodologies, conducting research in statistical theory, and applying these methods to interdisciplinary research. The center also engages in R&D projects with government and industry partners.
The Statistical Consulting and Education Center provides comprehensive statistical consulting services within and outside the university and offers regular education in statistics and data science to all levels, enhancing statistical literacy and analytical skills.
