On September 4, 2024, the Institute for Data Innovation and Science (IDIS) at Seoul National University, led by Director Jung Sungkyu, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for collaborative research with the Causal Inference Team of the Advanced Intelligence Project (AIP) at the RIKEN Institute in Japan.

RIKEN, a research institute under Japan's Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, established the Advanced Intelligence Project in 2017 with the full support of the Japanese government to develop next-generation AI technologies. The Causal Inference Team specializes in causal inference, which serves as the analytical foundation for AI research. Through this agreement, IDIS aims to identify specific collaboration topics related to various methodologies in causal inference and strengthen networking among researchers.

In addition, with over a century of history, RIKEN has actively promoted globalization by recruiting numerous international researchers and conducting high-level fundamental and applied scientific research. IDIS anticipates that this partnership with RIKEN will facilitate broader academic exchange and elevate collaborative efforts to a new level.
